Some ideas are better explained slowly, in writing.
This page lists books that outline the foundational thinking behind how I approach beginner guitar — with an emphasis on clarity, structure, and practicing the right things first.
At the moment, there is one book available.
Building Blocks for Beginners
The 1–4–5–6m Guitar Method
This book is written for absolute beginners and self-teaching players who want a clear starting point without unnecessary complexity.
It focuses on:
- essential music theory
- how chords are organized within a key
- the Nashville Number System
- the core 1–4–5–6m chord family
- beginner-friendly keys and substitutions
Rather than covering everything, the book narrows in on the small set of concepts that show up in hundreds of real songs.
The goal is not speed.
The goal is understanding what to practice — and why.
How This Book Fits With the Site
The book provides the theory and context behind much of the practice work on this site and on my YouTube channel.
- The book explains what’s happening
- The practice videos focus on doing the work through repetition
They are meant to complement each other, not duplicate content.
You can use either independently, or together.
Who This Book Is For
This book is a good fit if you:
- are new to guitar
- feel overwhelmed by scattered information
- want to understand chord progressions instead of memorizing shapes
- prefer a clear, written reference you can return to
If you’re looking for advanced techniques or large libraries of material, this book is intentionally not that.
