About Billy B

Billy B is a guitarist, performer, and educator focused on helping players build real, repeatable skills through structured practice.

He picked up guitar, bass, and mandolin at age seven. By 13, he was fronting his own band and later became musical director for his high school ensemble, earning recognition for outstanding musical achievement.

Since then, Billy has performed across Canada and Europe, written music for television, and shared the stage with major artists at events such as Big Valley Jamboree, Merritt Mountain Music Festival, and Tours Country Music Festival. He also composed music for a CMT Music Special and continues to perform regularly.

That experience matters — but it isn’t the point of this site.

From Stage to Practice

After decades of performing and teaching, Billy noticed a common problem:
Most guitar instruction focuses on information, not application.

Players learn chords, scales, and concepts — but don’t know how to practice them effectively.

Guitar Geek Academy was created to solve that problem.

Instead of long tutorials or theory-heavy courses, GGA focuses on short, structured practice workouts designed to improve rhythm, timing, and chord transitions — the skills that actually determine whether someone progresses or stalls.

The goal isn’t to learn more.
It’s to practice better.

The Approach

Through his books, YouTube channel, and optional Zoom lessons, Billy B is building a practical learning space where guitarists can:

  • Build consistent practice habits that lead to real improvement
  • Follow simple, step-by-step practice paths
  • Reduce frustration by focusing on fewer things, repeated properly
  • Develop timing, coordination, and confidence through repetition

This isn’t a traditional lesson site.
It’s a practice system built on clarity, structure, and results.

A Personal Note

“My goal is simple: help you move past frustration and feel confident when you pick up your guitar.

I’ve spent years refining what actually helps players improve — not what looks impressive, but what works. If you’re willing to repeat small things longer than feels necessary, this approach will make sense.

If you have feedback or want something covered, feel free to reach out.”
